About the role:
We are seeking a talented Senior Commercial Business Controller to join our Controlling team. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a fast-paced, fast-growing company. In this pivotal finance role, you will steer the financial performance of our German business as the business controller for Germany (shop-apotheke.com), taking responsibility for the P&L and acting as a strategic finance business partner. Additionally, you will take responsibility for the overall commercial finance planning & reporting across all countries.
About your tasks:
Business Controlling: Act as the primary controller for the German market, overseeing P&L performance and delivering insights to drive financial improvements and profitability goals.
Finance Business Partnering: You are part of the the German market team, offering financial expertise and insights for strategic and operational decision-making.
Profitability Improvement: Analyze and monitor key financial and operational KPIs to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, taking the lead on initiatives to optimize profitability and unit economics.
Data-Driven Reporting and Planning: Manage and improve commercial controlling processes, including weekly and monthly commercial performance reporting, quarterly forecasting, annual financial planning, and reporting. Ensure data-driven decision-making with advanced Excel skills (PowerPivot, PowerQuery).
Leadership: Lead and mentor a junior controller, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and high performance.
You will report directly into the Executive Director Controlling.
About you:
Educational Background: A master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field is mandatory.
Professional Expertise: Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in business controlling, P&L management, and financial performance optimization.
Business Economics Knowledge: Strong understanding of business economics and the ability to connect financial insights to operational decisions.
Analytical & Data Skills: Advanced analytical skills with a data-driven mindset and expertise in Excel (PowerPivot, PowerQuery).
Communication & Presentation: Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively share financial insights and influence decision-making across various stakeholders.
Teamwork & Collaboration: A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
eCommerce Advantage: Experience in the eCommerce or online retail sector is highly preferred.
Languages: Fluent in both German and English.
